Bright ruby.  Dark berry and black pepper aromas show good energy and pick up smokiness with air.  Chewy and rather brooding, with slow-to-open blackberry and bitter cherry flavors and a hint of spiciness.  A bit clenched on the finish, which clings with good tenacity.  This deserves some air or patience. -88pts IWC (JR)
