Grand Cru Wine Merchants

The 2007 Chardonnay Clare is perhaps the one that comes closest to a French Corton-Charlemagne. Almost tannic because of its structured, tight, restrained personality, the wine exhibits subtle notes of citrus oil, crushed rocks, mango, quince, and some background honeysuckle. It is full-bodied but restrained and tight, almost reminiscent in its youthfulness of some of the great Mt. Eden Chardonnays. I will have a better feel for this wine once it gets in bottle and I can taste it again next year. -94-97pts WA
