The limited production (200 6-packs) 2006 Nosostros Malbec was sourced from a 50-year-old ungrafted vineyard and aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak prior to bottling without fining and filtration. Dark ruby/purple in color, it delivers a fragrant bouquet of pain grille, pencil lead, black cherry, black raspberry, and licorice. This leads to a full-bodied wine with layers of flavor, succulent fruit, excellent balance and enough structure to develop in bottle for another 4-6 years. Good deep ruby-red.  Aromas of blackberry, licorice and bitter chocolate, lifted by minerals and sexy new oak; showed licorice pastille and violet notes with air.  Juicy and densely packed, with superb intensity and lift-not to mention inner mouth perfume to its black fruit, violet, mocha and mineral flavors.  Susana Balbo's flagship wines are normally uncompromising and built to age but this one shows an utterly exhilarating sugar/acid balance that gives it great early appeal.  Powerful, palte staining wine, finishing with very fine tannins and lovely lift. -93pts IWC
